VA's SCI/D Hub and Spokes System

SCI/D care at VA is convenient

Map showing SCI Centers and Spoke sites Our Spinal Cord Injuries and Disorders System of Care is designed around a system of "Hub and Spokes." The 25 SCI/D Centers are called Hub facilities, indicated by the blue dots on the map. Each SCI/D Center has highly trained and experienced providers including doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, psychologists, and other staff who are trained to assist with the unique issues that can affect people with a spinal cord injury or disorder.

The SCI/D Centers (Hubs) work closely with other designated medical facilities that do not have SCI/D Centers (called Spoke facilities) to provide excellent care to our Veterans with SCI/D as close to their homes as possible. SCI/D Spoke teams are located around the country, indicated by the red dots on the map. At SCI/D Spoke facilities, health care providers work closely with the SCI/D Hub facilities to ensure that comprehensive primary and specialized care needs are addressed. It is important for Veterans with SCI/D to get primary care from providers that have specialized training as they are equipped to diagnose and treat issues unique to SCI/D. Contact your local VA or the closest SCI/D Center (see map and list below) for more information on receiving SCI/D care through VA.
